4 Months Old!

As by the title, Focus is now 4 months! What a perfect day the phase report and Focus turns 4 months! Focus is growing up way to fast it and it does not seem like I have had him for almost 2 months, he has just learned so much in the little time I have had him. As for the pictures I know I have not posted some in a while, so here they are! If you have not noticed, he got his M jacket yesterday!

A Year Ago Today....

The 4 hour drive to San Rafael seemed like an hour on end drive. When we finally got there, went to the kennel kitchen, checked in, they finally told me that I would be receiving 9 week old DeSoto. I was not real fond of the name at first, but it grew on me. He was the perfect little puppy from day 1. Though I did not get to spend quite a year with him, I am sure glad I got to spend the 11 months I had with him. Him being my first puppy, we learned a lot together. We had our bad days, but the good days out numbered the bad by a lot. The time I spent with him seemed like a day, but it was great experience for me and him!

The little puppy I had once..
turned into the boy I love and miss today!

Still Moving Along

Every Thursday it is always a relief to see them all still moving along. Mr. Sherwood is 50% done with his training, go Sherwood!!! The other 3 should be moving up to 3 hopefully soon.

For a quick update on Focus:
He has been going to school with me mostly every day, and he is SO good. He has not had an accident yet *fingers crossed* and usually goes on command when I allow him to. Everyone loves him, though I have discovered he is very people distracted to the point of lunging toward them, so need to say, we will be working on that! Today he stayed with my mom because he had a vet appointment to get his 4 month old rabies, and I am sure you all will be shocked but the boy weighed 35 pounds!! I was very shocked! Last month when he was there for his stomach issues he weighed 25 pounds. He was very skinny though so I feed him 1.5 cups 3 times a day and sometimes 2 for lunch, but now that he gained weight he is back to the 1 cup 3 times a day. Hopefully this weekend I will get around to posting pictures!

Yay!!

DeSoto, Spike, & Suede finally made it out of 0 to phase 2. I guess I am happy to see that DeSoto is out of 0. So I assume they have almost passed all of there medical stuff, and are now into the more "fun stuff."

Also, Diva (DeSoto`s sister) and Orwell (a dog in our club) are scheduled to go back on the 20-21.

On a second note, Focus is finally over the diarrhea (I hope). He has also been going to school with me and is very well behaved, and everyone just adores him! This week has been pretty boring, going to school or staying home with my mom, and going for walks up in the hills, well Focus that is! I don`t think we have anything exciting planned for the weekend, but who knows!

Now for an update on Focus.
On Monday we had are annual club potluck and mills park. I was a little worried about bringing Focus, just becasue of the Parvo (a very bad diesese for dogs, which is mostly caused by dogs eating other dogs stools) that has been going around this area. So I just walked him to and from the pavillion where we had our potluck, and not let him on the grass. The potluck was very good and Focus was great! We also got to meet Neeva, who is being raised by a first time raiser and his family. Neeva is a 4 month old FYL. She is a sweetie!

On Tuesday I took Focus to shcool with me. He was very well behaved and all my friends and teachers loved him. But I have not brought him back since because he has been having dierrah for the past few days. So we called are leader, Becky and she said to give him plain yogurt, chicken, and white rice. She also said her little guy, Amato has been having the same issue, so we are thinking it`s the city water that`s causing it?? So I have been giving Focus filtered water only. So I hope he`ll be over this soon! As for the rest of the week, it`ll be pretty boring! Just for all you people wondering, Focus weighed 26 pounds at 12 weeks and he is now about 28 pounds!

Update on Focus

Focus is growing up so fast, he turned 3 months on Monday! Last Saturday our club met at the train station to ride the steam train. Focus was great just sat there and was not bothered at all by all the noise. I was very impressed! After the train ride, Focus went home with my leaders because I had a family event and could not take Focus or DeSoto because some people were very allergic to dogs. Focus got to spend the weekend with them because Sunday my mom and I made the trip to San Rafael to drop DeSoto off, and than headed into San Francisco which was very fun, but I wish I had Focus, but it was a lit of walking and it would not have been good for him. Maybe when he is older!

Monday was just a meeting for puppies which was held at our leaders house. We basically just talked about issues we were having, talking about recall, and practiced "come," which Focus is very good at, for the most part. After the meeting I took Focus home with me. I got a great report from them, except the crazy barking in the kennel, which they said it`ll just take time for him to get over that. Tuesday I had an eye appointment and he tagged along and was great.

We kind of had a scare with Focus on Tuesday as well. He woke up and I put him on the tie down and he started making the puking noise, but he never did throw up. So we went along doing are normal thing and fed him breakfast around 7. Around 11:30 I was upstairs and he was in the room with me and he threw up his breakfast, and the weird thing was, is that is was really not digested at all. So I called my leader and she asked if he had swallowed anything, and I said no. So she just suggessed that I soak his food for an hour. So before we went to the eye doctor, I got his food ready. While at the eye doctor, every time he got up he arched his belly up really high, and acted like he was in pain. So we than called are leader and she said we should take him to the vet. We got to the vet and she checked him out and felt his entire stomach and said nothing was in there that she could feel, so she gave him a shot which is was like a tums, and to not feed him that night. So, we just think he had a bad stomach ache. I made rice for him this morning and fed that to him and rice and food mixed for lunch. He seems all back to normal now which I am happy about!

These last two pictures I found and thought they were just "cute."

P.S. We all miss DeSoto and wish him good luck!

Recall

Sunday my mom and I headed down to San Rafael. We arrived at the campus around 1:30. We checked in and the lady took us back to kennels. Spike was eventually next to DeSoto. DeSoto was very calm and laid down just looking at all the barking dogs. I stayed about 15-20 minutes in there with him than left. I think the hardest part was walking away. When I opened the door to leave, he was right by my side so I had to push him back. It was very hard to see him look at me like "where are you going you always take me." I know he`ll do great!

Goodbye DeSoto

Writing this post just does not seem right. Tomorrow (somehow) I will have to say goodbye to DeSoto. Though I know if he is CC`d I will get to adopt him, which make tomorrow a little bit easier. Time really flied by. It seems like just yesturday I picked up my adorable little DeSoto, and now it is time to compplete his dream.

I know DeSoto will do his very best. I will be happy to see him in harness or at my house playing ball. I just want him to be happy.

Well today was DeSoto`s last outing as a puppy in training. Our club met up at the train station and rode the train. DeSoto was great with the rickety noises, steam engine, and all the other surroundings. Focus was there too, and slept the entire ride. I was very happy with my boys.

Probably the last picture I will ever get of both of them as puppies in training.
Focus will not be going with me, he is at my leaders house because I will be slending the day in the city and spending the night, which is to much for a 12 week old puppy. I miss him already but can`t wait to see him on Monday!

So here is to my Soto who will de great in training. Focus and I will miss you dearly.
